CRS President David Jenkins was interviewed on the Bill Meyer radio show in Oregon about the Trump Administration’s proposal to scrap the 25-year-old Roadless Area Protection Rule. This Conservative Group Says the GOP Should Lead on Environmental Issues Like Clean Energy

In Arizona, the Republican-controlled Corporation Commission this spring repealed the state’s renewable energy standard. But David Jenkins said the GOP should pay more attention to the natural environment. Jenkins is president of the group Conservatives for Responsible Stewardship. The Show spoke with him earlier, and asked what to him are the biggest environmental issues that conservatives should be talking about, but aren’t. Listen to the radio story at...

Conservative Group Says Rescinding Oil and Gas Rule Could Cost Taxpayers Billions

Conservatives for Responsible Stewardship is featured in a report from Aspen Public Radio covering concerns about a proposed federal policy change involving oil and gas development on public lands. The piece focuses on a proposed rollback of a Bureau of Land Management rule that requires energy companies to set aside funds to properly clean up wells and restore drilling sites after production ends. CRS warns that weakening those requirements could shift significant cleanup costs onto taxpayers, with potential liabilities reaching into the billions. The discussion highlights a broader issue in public lands management: ensuring companies, rather than taxpayers, are responsible for plugging abandoned wells and restoring impacted land.
